Makati City Mayor Abby Binay spearheaded the launch held at the city hall and was attended by other city government executives and representatives from Fujifilm Philippines.

According to Binay, Fujifilm's Xair portable x-ray system is a crucial solution in the fight to end the TB problem in the Philippines.

She also highlighted that Makati will extend the use of the portable X-ray to sister cities, especially those in rural settings where access to medical facilities, doctors, and essential resources is limited.

This initiative aims to bridge the healthcare gap, ensuring that even the most remote and underserved populations can benefit from advanced TB detection and care.

Xair is a 3.5 kg portable x-ray system that can be used in out-of-hospital settings like a patient's home visit and nursing care, places without a power source like natural disaster sites, and clinics and isolation wards.

In May, the city government and Fujifilm Philippines partnered in providing free ultrasound and other diagnostic services to Makatizens during the city government's weekly caravan aimed at bringing public services much closer to residents.

Binay said the weekly Makati Lingkod Bayan Caravan provides residents with a wide range of diagnostic services, including general check-ups, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar screening, and consultations with healthcare professionals.

The free ultrasound and x-ray program for Makati residents will run until November.

Makati is the second local government unit in the country to partner with Fujifilm Philippines after its successful medical mission and TB screening program in Majayjay, Laguna last year with over  300 patients availed themselves of free x-ray services.

During the medical mission in Majayjay, Fujifilm Philippines used two of its state-of-the-art x-ray machines: the FDR nano and the FDR Go PLUS.

These two mobile imaging devices are designed for high-quality X-ray imaging. Both are lightweight and compact, making them ideal for testing people in diverse healthcare environments.
