TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Health announced on Wednesday, September 4, that there is no monkeypox case in Eastern Visayas.

A suspected case turned out negative, according to results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City.
The DOH-8 initially reported four suspected cases in the region.
However, after thorough verification, only the patient from Samar and Tacloban met the case definition for monkeypox subject to further testing.
An additional suspected case has been reported in Samar, bringing the total number of suspected cases to three.
The Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit said they are currently in the process of collecting and sending specimens for the suspected case from Samar for testing, while they need to recollect samples from the suspected case in Northern Samar.
