Taguig student who fell to his death buried but family still seeking answers

A Grade 12 student who died after falling from the seventh floor of the Tenement housing building in Taguig was buried on Sept. 30.

However, his family is still seeking answers on how he died, believing that someone did it to him and that he did not take his own life.

Melmar Saril, 16, a student at Western Bicutan National High School (WBNHS) in Barangay Pinagsama, was found dead at about 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the parking lot of the Tenement building in Barangay Western Bicutan, according to the Taguig Police.

A witness told the Taguig Police that while she was doing chores, she heard a sound of something falling and saw him lying on the ground.

In a public post on Facebook, Saril’s mother, Marivic, said they have not received any update on what happened to her son.

“Hanggang ngaun wla pa dn update kung ano tlaga nangyari sa anak ko. hwag sana kau matulugin Ng concenxa nyo… (Up to now, there is no update on what really happened to my son. I hope your conscience will keep you awake at night),” she wrote.

The Taguig Police are investigating his death.

In another post, she said, “Sa tuwing lagi nlng mg nahuhulog sa building [Tenement] na Yan... suicide agad....sabihin nyo pa na tanggapin nlng nmin...magulang kmi kung sa anak nyo nangyari Yan papayag kau.....hwag sana nangyari sa anak nyo Yung nangyari sa Amin ngaun (Every time someone falls from that building…they say it’s suicide…you even told us to just accept it…we are parents. If that happened to your child, are you going to allow it…I hope that what happened to us will not happen to your child).”

On Sept. 30, the mom wrote, “Nak Hanggang ngaun Yung sakit d prin nawala...Hindi ko prin tanggap Yung nangyari sau..tulungan muh lng kmi nak mabigyan Ng justice Yung pgkawala muh…hwag muh lng patulugin Yung gumawa sau nyan at mga taong nkakaalam kung ano tlaga ang totoong nangyari sau (My son, up to now the pain is still there…I still cannot accept what happened to you..please help us in finding justice for your loss…keep those who did this to you awake at night and to those who knew what really happened to you).”

She thanked all the people who offered their sympathy and help.
