Long lines were seen as the Commission on Elections accommodated registrants composed of not only first-time voters but also those reactivating their voter’s registration and transferring precincts.
Iloilo City election assistant officer Jonathan Sayno said they recorded a 300 percent increase in the number of registrants compared to when listing started last February 1.
It was unclear if those who were processing their forms as of the cutoff time of 3 p.m. were able to register.
Meanwhile, the Comelec here and Iloilo province are all set for the filing of Certificates of Candidacies starting Tuesday, October 1.
For the city candidates, the venue will be at Robinsons Place Iloilo. Provincial candidates will be at Festive Walk Mall.
The Comelec has coordinated with the police for security measures.
