Governors Marcos, Singson, David running for fresh term


LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – Reelectionists Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc and Vice Gov. Cecilia Araneta-Marcos filed their Certificates of Candidacy for the May elections before the provincial Commission on Elections here on Tuesday, October 1.

Filing their COCs before the provincial Comelec in Vigan City were reelectionists Ilocos Sur Gov. Jeremias C. Singson and Vice Gov. Ryan Luis V. Singson of the local Bileg party.

They were joined by their candidates for provincial board member in the first district – reelectionists Francisco Arturo Ranchez III and Dr. Art Oandasan, lawyer Ismael Baterina, King “Rambo” Rafanan, and Janina Medina Farinas – and second district: Reelectionists Benjamin Maggay, Leopoldo Geronilla, and Dr. Ericson Singson, Fayinna Zaragoza, and lawyer Pablito Sanidad Jr.

In La Union, reelectionist Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David of the Nationalist People’s Coalition also filed her COC, along with her father, former Gov. Francisco Roberto “Pacoy” Ortega VI for congressman in the second district.

Ortega’s younger brother, San Fernando City Vice Mayor Alfredo Pablo “Alf” Ortega, filed his COC for mayor of San Fernando City.

In Batac City, Ilocos Norte, former provincial agriculturist Norma Lagmay filed her COC for mayor. Lagmay had served the provincial government for 44 years from the time of the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. until Gov. Manotoc.
