Cop hurt in Isabela City grenade blast


ZAMBOANGA CITY – A policeman was injured in a grenade explosion in Isabela City in Basilan on Sunday night, September 29, a day before the declaration of the city as Abu Sayyaf Group-free.

The injured was identified as Police Patrolman Aldimar Salahuddin of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9.

A LAWMAN was injured in a grenade explosion in this police detachment in  Isabela City, Basilan on Sunday, September 29.

Investigation said that an unidentified person lobbed the grenade at the Community Police Assistance Center in Barangay Sunrise at 9:45 p.m. which exploded and injured Salahuddin.

The victim was taken to the Infante Hospital and released that night.  

The Isabela City Police Station, Philippine Army, and the Explosives and Ordnance Unit inspected the scene of the explosion and conducted a post-blast investigation.

Lawmen recovered the safety lever of a fragmentation grenade.

Isabela City was expected to enter into a commitment on Monday, September 30, to be declared ASG-free.

Police have yet to determine if the explosion was related to the occasion.
