Town in Northern Samar declares state of calamity

TACLOBAN CITY â€“ The municipality of Allen, Northern Samar declared a state of calamity due to the devastation caused by tropical storm "Enteng" on Monday, September 2.

The Sangguniang Bayan passed a resolution sponsored by SB Member Ola Jowon Gubat and unanimously approved by all members of the council.

The resolution cited the heavy rainfall from Enteng that led to widespread flooding in the town proper and most of its barangays on Sunday, September 1.

The flooding caused significant damage to properties, including agricultural plantations, a major source of livelihood for many residents.

The resolution also noted that the Allen District Hospital (ADH) which serves as a refuge for storm victims, was also affected by the flooding, hindering the mobility of its staff.

The declaration allows the local government unit (LGU) to expedite the delivery of essential services to residents and provide necessary assistance.

It also enables the LGU to access emergency funds and resources to address the damage caused by the tropical cyclone.
