Starter Callie Christian pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out six batters for the Blu Girls while contributing offensively by going 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBIs.
Mylia Perez had two hits in three at bats and scored twice in the game to also shine for the Nationals.
Ireland's only hit came off the bat of shortstop Cameron Kelly, who went 1-for-3 in the game. It was her fourth hit of the tournament, finishing with a .235 batting average.
Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President Jean Henri Lhuillier still lauded the efforts of the Blu Girls despite failing to secure spots in the 2025 Finals.
“I am incredibly proud of our girls for their determination and hard work throughout the tournament. They played with heart and displayed the exceptional talent that Philippine softball has to offer,” Lhuillier said.
“We will be with the girls every step of the way as they prepare for the next World Cup. This experience will only make them stronger and make them grow, as they’ll definitely be back hungry for more,” he added.
Powerhouse United States and Canada clinched berths to the finals after finishing in the Top 2 of the Group sTage, joining Japan, Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei, Mexico, Czechia, and China.
The Finals will see representation from the top teams across the Americas, Asia, and Europe, setting the stage for a highly competitive event slated in 2025.
