Miss Universe Cambodia 2018 Rern Nat stars in horror flick

After her first visit to the Philippines during her Miss Universe stint in 2017, actress and model Rern Nat is back in Manila with her co-star and real-life partner, reigning Mister Friendship International Leav Veng Hour, to promote their horror film "Z-Mom."
At a press conference held at the S-Maison Mall in Pasay City on August 26, Rern shared how excited she is to be back in the Philippines after a very long time.
Leav translated Rern's message thus:
"She says that she is so blessed and happy to be back here in the Philippines for the second time, the first time that she was in the Philippines was in 2017, training for the Miss Universe, like catwalks, Q and A's stuff like that. So, she is happy this time around because she is able to come back here again and feel the love of the Filipino people."
Leav would go on to greet the crowd, sharing a few Filipino words he learned, including "Mabuhay," and "Kumusta kayo."
He also thanked everyone who came out to watch the special screening of their film.
"To everyone that's here right now, thank you so much for spending your day with us, and thank you for your support. We welcome you to this one-of-a-kind cinematic experience."
"Z-Mom" follows the story of a woman who, along with her spouse and children, visits an island as operated by a private corporation.
The island soon reveals its sinister nature, leading the woman to plan a swift departure with her family.
Unfortunately, their escape becomes impossible as the island falls prey to a zombie outbreak.
It is Rern's first horror film and through Leav, she shared that it was huge challenge for her playing the role of a mom.
"But she did learn a lot watching and observing her own mother," Leav said.
Note Rern and Leav fell in love with each other while working on the film.
"But the relationship started after the film," Leav cleared.
"On the first day of the shoot, that's the first time that we've met, and as professionals, we didn't want any personal feelings get along the way. But in the film, we play a married couple, so that's where it kinda started and it helped us portray our characters well," Leav added.
"Z-MOM" is one of four horror films that will be screened exclusively at SM Cinemas as part of its Aughost Exclusives from August 28 to September 3.
The other three horror films are "Haunted Universities," "Mystery Writers," and "The Cursed Land.
