PRO 4-A chief Police Brig. Paul Kenneth Lucas said 991 were seized and 1,938 were secured for safekeeping.
He said that 2,899 were short firearms, 30 were light weapons, 92 were homemade, and 317 were submitted to the Crime Laboratory for examination.
Lucas said the confiscated firearms were the result of a relentless campaign conducted by police provincial offices in preparation for the mid-term elections in 2025.
“We successfully conducted 60,332 police operations, including implementing search warrants, checkpoints, service of arrest warrants, Oplan: Bakal/Sita, police patrols/responses, and Oplan: Katok,” Lucas said.
“These accomplishments are the result of the staunch dedication and tireless efforts of our police officers, as well as the active cooperation of our community in reporting illegal activities. The success of this campaign is a clear reflection of the strong partnership between PRO Calabarzon and the public, united in the common goal of ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for everyone,” Lucas added.
Six-hundred twelve individuals were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and 606 cases have been filed in court.
Meanwhile, Lucas ordered provincial police directors in Calabarzon to coordinate with local government units in search and rescue operations for victims of tropical storm “Enteng.”
They are also checking the situation of police officers affected by Enteng, Lucas said.
“We are also checking on the welfare of our police officers residing in affected areas. While we must fulfill our sworn responsibilities, we also must ensure the safety of our families,” said Lucas.
The PRO4-A has deployed 265 police personnel for search and rescue operations with an additional 489 Reactionary Standby Support Force personnel ready for deployment.
Seven-thousand, four-hundred fifty-eight families or 30,821 individuals were affected by Enteng in the region and are staying in 199 evacuation centers as of Tuesday, September 3. There are 3,951 evacuation centers in the region.
Lucas said 179 individuals were rescued from Enteng. However, police said there were nine reported fatalities and six missing persons.
Sixty barangays experienced flooding and search, rescue, and evacuation efforts continue in these affected areas.
