BPI to deactivate prepaid cards by yearend

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has announced that all BPI Prepaid Cards will be deactivated on Dec. 27, 2024.

In an advisory on Tuesday, Sept. 3, BPI said that the bank will also discontinue the loading of funds onto these cards through the BPI app, online banking, and Cash Accept Machines (CAMs) effective Sept. 30, 2024.

Prepaid card variants affected by the deactivation include the Amore Visa Paywave and Beep, the BPI ePay Gift Card, the BPI ePay Corporate Mastercard and Visa, and the BPI ePay Retail Mastercard and Visa, including the Virtual ePay Mastercard.

“You may continue to use your BPI Prepaid Card for purchases and withdrawals before Dec. 27, 2024,” the bank said.

For those with remaining balances, BPI offered options to transfer funds to a BPI deposit account or a VYBE e-wallet.

Assistance is available through the 24-hour BPI Contact Center at 889-10000 or at any BPI branch.

Customers without a BPI deposit account can easily set one up, request a BPI Debit Mastercard, or download the VYBE app.
