2 nabbed for illegal possession of firearms in Las Piñas City
Members of the Las Piñas City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) who were initially conducting an operation for the arrest of a robbery suspect, instead arrested two men for illegal possession of firearms on Monday night, September 2.
The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspects as "Nel," 23, and "Intsik," 30. They were arrested at around 9:20 p.m. in a residential compound in Barangay Almanza Uno.
Las Piñas City Police chief Col. Sandro Tafalla said WSS members were conducting an operation for the arrest of a robbery suspect identified as “Marvin” who was able to elude arrest.
Meanwhile, the arrested suspects were spotted by the operatives acting suspiciously and upon approaching them, the police recovered a .38 caliber revolver with four live ammunition and an improvised pen gun with .556 caliber ammunition from the two.
Tafalla said the suspects were brought to the police custodial facility and are charged for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
