‘Julian’ prompts class suspensions in Northern Luzon on September 30


Classes in parts of Northern Luzon on Monday, September 30, were suspended due to the threat of typhoon “Julian.”

Gov. Matthew M. Manotoc cancelled classes on the elementary and secondary levels in public and private schools in Ilocos Norte.

Gov. Jerry Singson suspended classes in all levels in public and private schools and work in public offices in Ilocos Sur.

In La Union, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega David issued Executive Order No. 52, Series of 2024, suspending classes on all levels in public and private schools and work in government offices.

In Pangasinan, there are no classes on all levels in Manaoag, Mapandan, Rosales, San Jacinto, Calasiao, San Fabian, Urdaneta City, Dagupan City, Malasiqui, Bayambang, Binmaley, Santo Tomas, Alcala, Bani, San Quintin, and Aguilar.

On the other hand, classes from pre-school to senior high school were cancelled in Mangaldan, Laoac, and San Carlos City.

In the province of Batanes, which is directly in the path of the howler, classes on all levels in public and private schools were suspended on September 30 and October 1.

In Cagayan province, there are no classes in all levels in public and private schools in Amulung, Baggao, Calayan, Gattaran, Iguig, Lal-lo, Santa Praxedes, and Tuao; Aparri,  public pre-school to college; Enrile, public preschool to Grade 12, and Tuguegarao City, public and private pre-school to Grade 12.

In Nueva Vizcaya, Gov. Jose Gambito cancelled classes in public and private kindergarten to senior high school.

In Aurora, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council suspended classes in all levels in public and private schools. 

In the Cordillera Administrative Region, classes were cancelled in all levels in public and private schools in Abra; public and private Kindergarten to Grade 12 in Apayao province; all levels, public and private schools in Baguio City, and public and private pre-school to senior high school in Benguet province.

The rest of the provinces in Cagayan Valley and CAR have yet to announce class and work cancellations as of posting time.
