2 escapees from PDEA jail in Zamboanga City nabbed in Sulu


ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two escapees from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency detention facility here last May were arrested after they were wounded in a shootout with authorities during a law enforcement operation in  Pandami, Sulu on Saturday, September 28.

SUSPECTED shabu valued at P146.2 million seized from Wilson Indanan in Zamboanga City last May.

The suspects were identified as Amil Khan Abubasar, 24, and cohort Wilson Indanan, alias Tulo, 25.

Investigation showed that a composite team from the police and PDEA was about to serve a warrant of arrest against Abubasar in his house in Pandami when the suspects fired at them.

The suspects continued to fire while trying to move toward the backyard to escape when they were hit and disabled.

Authorities rendered first aid and brought the suspects to the Pandami Rural Health Unit where they were treated for their wounds.  Abubasar was later transferred to the Siasi District Hospital in Sulu.

Police recovered high-powered firearms and ammunition from the suspects.

Indanan was one of four suspects arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mampang, Zamboanga City on May 2 where P146.2-million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated.

Abubasar was arrested by the PDEA-9 and intelligence operatives for allegedly selling two kilos of illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation on March 2 in Barangay Camino Nuevo, Zamboanga City.

Indanan and Abubasar were two of seven drug suspects who escaped from the PDEA detention facility in Zamboanga City on May 13.

The five other suspects remain at large.
