The special award was received by the Health Promotion Programme manager, Dr. Mariane Loe Bringuelo, and Supervising Administrative Officer Dave Basaca during the recently concluded 10th Global Conference of the Alliance for Healthy Cities in Seoul, South Korea, held from September 24 to 28.

The conference was attended by over 1,000 participants, including officials, representatives, and health experts from 100 international organizations and countries. It recognized cities from Japan, the Philippines, Korea, and Singapore for their initiatives in promoting health and well-being.

According to the WHO, Pasig City received the award in recognition of its long track record of implementing Healthy Cities activities and promoting the approach nationally and internationally, as well as in continuing to play a key role in advancing healthy cities in the country.

It also stated that “Pasig’s achievements in building a healthier, more sustainable environment through innovative actions have set a benchmark for other cities to follow, inspiring similar initiatives across the country.”

In addition to the special award, Pasig City was also recognized as one of the first cities in the country to join the Urban Governance for Health and Well-Being initiative.

It is a program that supports local actions that promote good governance for health through multi-sectoral collaboration.

The city’s delegation also participated in two panel discussions to share the successful programs initiated by the local government in the field of multi-sectoral collaboration.

They also shared learning and development initiatives being implemented in the city to achieve health goals.

The city government said that it continues to implement health programs and expand them to promote a healthier city in line with the goals of the Alliance for Healthy Cities.
