Tornado, hailstorm batter Batangas town

SAN JUAN, Batangas – Freak weather lashed this town, particularly Barangays Mabalanoy and Poblacion, on Friday afternoon, September 27.

Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head Noralyn Near said a hailstorm and tornado occurred during heavy rain with thunder and lightning and strong winds that lasted two hours.

The iron roofs of several establishments at the public market were blown away.

Two persons were injured when two tricycles collided in Barangay Calicanto due to bad weather.

The Municipal engineering office conducted a clearing operation on roads.

The MDRRMO is awaiting reports on affected barangays.
