Prime Waste Solutions Pampanga Inc. (PWS Pampanga), a subsidiary of Razon-led Prime Infrastructure, has been tapped by the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) as the lone service provider for waste management in Clark, Pampanga.
During a memorandum signed last Sept. 16, PWS Pampanga was accredited to manage residual waste in Clark Freeport and its Special Economic Zone and is set to begin its commercial operations by October 6.
According to PWS Pampanga, it operates a modern, large-scale materials recovery facility (MRF) in Porac which can process up to 5,000 tons of solid waste per day and can also manage waste segregation and storage for resource recovery.
Cara Peralta, the market sector lead for waste at Prime Infra said that PWS Pampanga would redefine the waste management sector and stated that “As the operator of a state-of-the-art materials recovery facility, we distinguish ourselves from traditional landfills by providing a sustainable alternative built around resource recovery.”
“By optimizing resource recovery, we aim to significantly limit landfilled waste up to 20 percent or less to received waste. This way, we are able to reduce organic waste ending up decomposing and producing harmful methane emissions,” Peralta added.
Aside from securing CDC’s accreditation, PWS Pampanga will also manage waste services for Clark’s buildings, facilities, and open spaces.
Earlier this week, San Fernando’s city Environment and Natural Resources office (CENRO) raised concerns about the memorandum, stating the previous open dumpsite incident in the Binaliw landfill in Cebu City.
