Archers ready to adjust as KQ becomes a dad

It wasn’t a trophy nor a sponsorship deal, but a far greater life achievement -- becoming a father.

Quiambao, 23, embarks on another life journey -- a responsibility that would somehow affect his schedule with the De La Salle in this season’s UAAP men’s basketball tournament.

But La Salle coach Topex Robinson said he and the team are already prepared for it.

“It’s one of the things we discussed prior to this season. We know he’s gonna be in and out. Sometimes, he’s not gonna be in practice. Sometimes, he might even miss games and meron pa siyang commitment sa Gilas (Pilipinas),” said Robinson.

“So, that’s part of what we prepared for, and that’s why we always say that KQ is just part of us, but he’s not the whole of us,” he added.

Despite feeling unwell due to no sleep and slight fever, Quiambao still impressed in La Salle’s 68-62 win over FEU (0-5) after scattering 12 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

“It was a really challenging opportunity for KQ, because he has to juggle being a dad and representing DLSU and playing as one of the leaders together with Mike (Phillips),” Robinson added.

“So, we have guys who are gonna step up and guys who are just waiting for that opportunity, in case KQ will be in and out,” he added.
