Smart expands 5G roaming service to 92 countries

Smart Communications Inc., the wireless unit of telecom giant PLDT Inc. (PLDT), has expanded its 5G roaming coverage with 171 international telco partners worldwide.

“This expansion is aligned with our commitment to ensure that our customers have access to our 5G roaming services wherever they are in the world, and are able to have meaningful experiences as they travel,” said Smart Vice President and Head of International Roaming and Strategic Partnerships Alice Ramos.

Smart said its customers with 5G SIMs and 5G-capable devices can avail of Smart 5G roaming services in 92 destinations through its 171 partners.

In the Philippines, the PLDT Group’s continued investments in enhancing its integrated network and innovating its products and services align with the group’s commitment to democratizing access to the latest technologies like 5G, enabling 5G for all, and delivering a leveled-up customer experience across the country.

Smart's award-winning mobile network covers 97 percent of the population and is part of the Philippines’ largest integrated network that includes PLDT’s most extensive fiber infrastructure.

Its innovative mobile products and services contribute to the PLDT Group’s endeavors to narrow the digital divide, provide connectivity to all, and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) particularly SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. These also reinforce the Group’s support for the Government's overall digitalization thrust.
