John Amores, brother face attempted murder charges


SANTA CRUZ, Laguna – An attempted murder case was filed against PBA cager John Anthony "Walker" Amores and his brother on Thursday, September 26, before the provincial prosecutor’s office here.

The case was filed a day after shooting a seaman following a basketball game in Lumban, Laguna.

The complaint was filed by the victim, Lee Lumangaya Cacalda, 32, married, of Barangay Maytalang 1, Lumban, and received by Prosecutor Maria Victoria B. Cayaba.

Also charged for violating Article 19 of the Revised Penal Code (accessory to the crime) was brother John Red Walker Amores.

The Amoreses fired at Cacalda at 6 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, September 25 in Barangay Maytalang Uno, after an altercation during a basketball game.

They surrendered hours later to the Lumban police at around 2 a.m.

Bail was set at P24,000 for John and P10,000 his brother.
