FEU coach Chambers: It's going to be tough

For a young team he is handling, Chambers sees the potential but he believes experience is the best lesson that one should learn and embrace.

“Well, we knew that it was going to be a tough start to the season because we're starting five [are all] freshmen. We don't have any older classmen that returned from last year that were starting for us,” he added. “We're missing Cholo [Anonuevo], which is a big piece, and our young guys are growing up in a, what do you say, in the fire.”

Anonuevo, one of the key players for FEU, is sidelined due to an injury but managed to play in their first two losses against Adamson (3-2) and National University (1-4).

Despite missing the services of their main weapon, the Tamaraws actually performed well in their recent games.

The defeat to the Bulldogs was a painful and narrow one after the Morayta-based squad was dealt with a 62-60 loss.

They even had a fighting chance against the defending champion De La Salle but lost steam in the endgame.

“We knew it was going to be a challenge, but I'm so proud of them and the way they performed tonight, so we're going to just keep working and they understand that it's going to be a process,” he added.

“Who would think of us giving La Salle a tough match, do you? So I’m just like I said earlier my players did great today,” Chambers continued.

FEU eyes its first-ever win when it faces Ateneo (1-4) Sunday, Sept. 29.
