Marcos endorses admin's Senate slate for 2025 polls


President Marcos has bared the administration's senatorial slate in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.

Marcos announced the 12 senatorial candidates under the "Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas" during the political alliance's convention 2024 on Thursday, Sept. 26, in Pasay City.

In his speech, the President endorsed the senatoriables under the five political-party alliance as:

1. Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr.
2. Makati Mayor Abby Binay
3. Senator Pia Cayetano
4. Former senator Ping Lacson
5. Senator Lito Lapid
6. Senator Francis Tolentino
7.Senator Imee Marcos
8. Senator Ramon "Bong" Reilla Jr.
9. Former senator Manny Pacquiao
10. Former senator Vicente Sotto III
11. Deputy Speaker Camille Villar
12. ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Erwin Tulfo

In endorsing the senatorial aspirants, Marcos expressed hopes that they maintain they integrity and love for the country.

He said the lineup would prioritize the interest of the nation and the rights and welfare of the Filipino people.

"Mga kababayan, sila po ang lineup ng alyansa.  Sa kanilang kalidad at karanasan, mataas ang aking kumpyansa na sila ay ating magiging katuwang sa ating pagsulong at sa patuloy na  pag-unlad ng ating bansa (Fellowmen, they are the lineup of the alliance. With their quality and experience, I have high confidence that they will be our partner in pushing for the country's progress)," Marcos said as he urged the people to support the candidates. 
 
All senatorial candidates under the Bagong Pilipinas alliance were present during the endorsement event, except for senator Marcos.

The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas is composed of five political parties, namely the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Nacionalista Party (NP), and National Unity Party (NUP).

During the event, Marcos also witnessed the signing of manifesto by the party leaders of the Alliance with South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. for PFP, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez for Lakas-CMD, Presidential Adviser on Legislative Affairs and Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza for NPC, former Senate President Manuel Villar Jr. for NP and Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr. for NUP.
