ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo says the reason why he's decided to run for senator in May 2025 is President Marcos himself.
In a press conference Thursday, Sept. 26, Tulfo shared that President Marcos approached him earlier and asked if he could once again help the administration like the way that he had served in his Cabinet as Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) secretary.
But this time, the Chief Executive was asking him to be part of the administration Senate slate under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas banner.
"Eh hindi naman ako makasabi ng 'Hindi.' (Of course I couldn't say 'No.') I mean I have known the President for quite a while," said Tullfo, who was a popular broadcaster before he joined government service.
"Kaya sabi ko (So I said), 'Yes, sure Mr. President...I will join the line-up of the administration’s bets for the Senate come 2025.' Yun ang sinabi ko (That's what I said)," recalled the consistent survey leader among senatoriables.
"So I would like to thank the President dun the trust pa rin, and confidence na makatulong ako sa administrasyon nila and together with the 11 other candidates na pinili nila," said Tulfo, the deputy majority leader for communications in the House of Representatives.
(So I would like to thank the President for still trusting me, and the confidence that I can help their administration together with the 11 other candidates that the chose.)
Before this, Tulfo had repeatedly said when asked about the 2025 mid-term elections that his focus was his work in the House.
The full 12-person Senate slate of the Alyansa was announced by President Marcos Thursday morning.
