Police Capt. Peter John Ramos, head of Police Station 6, said the man climbed the post around noon time. Ramos said that the man resisted authorities but he was not harming himself.

The Bureau of Fire Protection-Bacolod arrived and negotiated with the man until he calmed down and brought down the post.

Ramos said the man reportedly did not have breakfast that day.

The man was taken to a hospital for medical examination before he was turned over to his family.

Ramos said the victim had a theft record before the police and was usually seen gathering scrap materials for a living.
