Game is at 2:30 p.m. with the Blazers seeking to recover from a stunning 71-69 loss to the Letran Knights last Sunday, Sept. 22, that snapped their four-game winning streak.

A victory for the Taft-based squad not only would regain their lost bearings, but would also tighten their grip of the top spot.

They are currently at the helm with a 4-1 win-loss card, just half a game behind second-running University of Perpetual Help and Letran (4-2).

St. Benilde coach Charles Tiu hopes the four-day respite is enough for his stalwarts to rejuvenate and recover after that painful defeat against Letran where they squandered an imposing 14-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Out to breathe life for the Blazers are Winston Ynot and Mark Sangco, who combined for 26 points the last time, as well as Allen Liwag, who posted a double-double performance of 12 points and 15 rebounds against the Knights.

However, St. Benilde expects it wouldn’t be easy as Lyceum is coming off a three-game winning streak including a 96-81 victory over Mapua last Tuesday, Sept. 24, that put them at 3-2 in the middle standings.

Expected to match the Blazers’ troika are the Pirates’ own triumvirate in John Barba, Mclaude Guadana and Vincent Cunanan, who combined for 56 points against the Cardinals.

Meanwhile, Mapua guns for a share of second when it battles struggling San Sebastian in the 12 noon opener.

The Cardinals sport a 3-2 record while the Stags are on a four-game slump at 2-4.
