Toyota Motor Philippines invites racing enthusiasts and motorsport fans to experience the exhilarating second leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup (TGR Philippine Cup) on September 28 at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga. This event promises high-speed thrills, spills, and unforgettable moments for those craving the excitement of the racetrack. Emphasizing the theme “Fun to drive,” TMP remains committed to showcasing the capabilities of both drivers and vehicles through motorsports. Since launching its racing series in 2014 as the Vios Cup, TMP has used this platform to highlight the performance of its locally manufactured vehicles, especially the popular Vios. Now rebranded as the TGR Philippine Cup, this event aims to further push these boundaries. Fans can expect intense competition and the future debut of more Toyota models on the racetrack.

Heart-pounding racing action

The TGR Philippine Cup guarantees to keep spectators on the edge of their seats with two distinct racing formats. The first is the Sprint Race, a fast-paced 12-lap or 30-minute competition that tests driver skill and speed. Following this is the more demanding Endurance Race, a 1.5-hour challenge that requires strategy, consistency, and focus from every competitor. Each race format features various experience levels, from newcomers to seasoned professionals, with four categories: Novice Class, Promotional Class, Sporting Class, and Super Sporting Class.

Notably, TMP President, Masando Hashimoto, will compete in the Novice Class after his racing debut earlier this year, alongside rising stars such as Reph Bangsil and Lexi Mendiola, as well as media personalities Jamil Lacuna, Jose Altoveros, Pablo Salapantan, and John Rey San Diego. Additionally, sim racer Russel Reyes will put his skills to the test after a third-place finish in the TGR GT Cup, Toyota’s premier sim racing tournament.

Meanwhile, returning stars Ryan Agoncillo and Troy Montero are set to compete in the Sporting and Super Sporting classes, respectively. Agoncillo, an avid racing fan, and Montero, a well-known figure in motorsports, will face fierce competition from some of the country's top racing teams. A newcomer, Kody Ng, who recently earned his spot on Team TGR Philippines through a driver tryout, adds fresh energy and a new dynamic to the Sporting Class.

Excitement beyond the track

While racing is the main highlight, there’s plenty more for fans to enjoy. Toyota car clubs will showcase their GR performance vehicles on the track, providing spectators a unique opportunity to see these high-performance machines in action. The roar of engines from the GR Supra, GR 86, and GR Yaris, promises a feast for car enthusiasts' eyes and ears. For those seeking even more thrills, a professional drifting exhibition featuring the GR 86 is expected to be a crowd favorite. Attendees can watch expert drifters skillfully maneuver their cars on the track, showcasing remarkable control and precision. Some lucky fans may even experience a ride-along, sitting with the pros as they navigate the circuit in an exhilarating display.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to see GR road cars up close, and a special musical guest will perform to add to the high-energy atmosphere of the weekend. The best part? Admission to the event is entirely free, making it accessible to all motorsport fans, from dedicated enthusiasts to casual spectators seeking a fun day out.
