Mayor Honey gives P10,000 cash aid to Sampaloc fire victims

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto swiftly assisted 38 families that were rendered homeless by a fire that hit a residential area in Sampaloc, Manila.

The city government said each family displaced by the fire received P10,000 worth of cash assistance.

In her brief message, the mayor said the cash aid aims to help them rebuild their homes and recover from the incident.

She expressed relief that no one got hurt in the incident. She reiterated her reminder to all residents to always prioritize saving lives instead of their belongings in case of fire emergencies.

Manila Department of Social Welfare Chief Re Fugoso noted that the city government immediately distributed hot meals, water, and other basic needs from the office of the mayor.

The fire that hit Sampaloc reportedly started from a house located at No. 450 Amelia Street in Barangay 439 in Sampaloc, Manila.

The fire broke out at 2:42 p.m. and was put out at 5:51 p.m.
