The Korea Times launches 'Howdy Korea' on YouTube to promote hallyu

Do you want to feel the vibe of the real Korea?

The Korea Times, Korea’s first English-language newspaper, has launched its new YouTube channel called "Howdy Korea" to promote Korean language and culture.

The channel is the first among English newspaper in South Korea to explore the Korean language and lifestyle.

It features diverse contents such as Korean lessons to K-pop, Korean culture and everyday life, as well as a variety of topics that will interest foreigners.

By working with the The Korea Times’ overseas correspondents and global supporters, customized local contents are created and the latest hallyu (K-wave) news are delivered to subscribers.

Friends of Korea from around the world are invited to participate in events such as the Korean language speaking contest, K-pop competitions, and more.

“We create spaces where people around the world can freely communicate through online communities, and offer opportunities for face-to-face meet-ups through offline gatherings,” said Ahn Seong-Jin of The Korea Times.

“Howdy Korea” features Bite-sized Korean – a one-minute lesson on useful Korean expressions; K-Quiz on the Street – guerrilla interviews with foreigners on the street; K-Wave News – experience everything about hallyu; 5-Second Korean Speaking Challenge – giving the Korean language challenge a try; and K-TalkTalk – which are stories shared by foreigners living in Korea.
