According to The Korean Committee for UNICEF, Felix’s appointment was made to mark its 30th anniversary.

Felix will spread his positive influence through various activities for children around the world while practicing UNICEF's ideology as a goodwill ambassador for The Korean Committee for UNICEF.

“I decided to become a UNICEF Korea Goodwill Ambassador because I wanted to protect the pure happiness of all children. I am grateful for the love I have received from my fans, and with the love I have received, I want to do my best to convey love to children,” said Felix at the appointment ceremony.

The Korean Committee for UNICEF Secretary General Cho Mi-jin said, “We are so happy and grateful to welcome Felix, who has always shown active support with pure love for children, as our new Goodwill Ambassador.”

She said, “Felix’s sincere actions in practicing the value of sharing in his life have been a role model for many, and we look forward to the positive influence he will have as a UNICEF Korea goodwill ambassador in the future. We ask for your continued support as a strong supporter of children around the world.”

Last Sept. 20, The Korean Committee for UNICEF announced that Felix donated 50 million won (about $37,420) to support nutrition and water sanitation for children in Laos in celebration of his birthday on Sept. 15.

Felix previously donated 100 million (about $74,861) last January to help children in Laos who were suffering from poor nutrition, and water and sanitation.

He went to Laos in February to visit UNICEF’s work sites and spent time with children.

UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) is the only organization whose role in promoting children's rights is explicitly mentioned in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is a UN agency that carries out projects for children around the world, including health, nutrition, water and sanitation, education, protection, and emergency relief.
