OsMak lauded for outstanding hospital management

The Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) was recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) for its exemplary hospital operation and management after recording the highest possible score in the agency's Integrated Hospital Operations and Management Program (IHOMP) audit on Tuesday, September 24.

According to the city government, OsMak achieved a score of 99 in the said program making it one of only four other hospitals in the country to achieve the feat.

"This top mark is proof of the hospital's thorough adherence to operational, management, and patient care standards," the local government unit (LGU) said.

IHOMP aims to evaluate the capabilities of different medical institutions in the country.

The six major components of IHOMP include:

- Governance
- Ethics and Patient's Rights
- Quality Measurement and Improvement
- Patient Safety
- Facility Safety and Emergency Management
- Resource Management

OsMak, which is managed by the City of Makati, remains as one of the best city-operated hospitals in Metro Manila.

Under Mayor Abby Binay's leadership, OsMak continues to improve and expand its medical services boosting Makati's healthcare capabilities.

In February of last year, the hospital received its ISO certification anew for its top-notch medical services to the public especially during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Binay, the hospital passed the surveillance audit of the Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) conducted on Feb. 1 and 2 for its ISO Quality Management System 9001:2015 certification, which verifies if the hospital processes conform with the standard of the said system.

ISO 9001:2015 is defined as the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS) used by organizations as the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. It was first published in 1987 by the ISO, an international agency composed of the national standards bodies of more than 160 countries.

Binay added that OsMak was first given its first ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management System in 2019, wherein it is always renewed every three years.

It then received its second ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management System in March of last year.

OsMak also achieved a historic feat in the field of medicine in April after being granted a five-year accreditation from the Philippine Board of Emergency Medicine (PBEM) making it the first government hospital-based emergency medicine training program to ever receive a five-year accreditation.

According to the city government, OsMak’s Department of Emergency Prehospital, Disaster, and Ambulatory Care Medicine, which trains Emergency Medical physicians, was given a five-year accreditation instead of the usual three for having consistently complied with the board’s requirements.
