New micro-cinema unveiled in QC

VS (Victoria Sports) Hotel Corporation recently opened a micro-cinema dubbed Victoria Sports (VS) Cinema at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City in collaboration with REMS Entertainment.

Present during the ribbon cutting of the venue last Sept. 8 are director-producer Gabby Ramos, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office Director (PCSO) Imelda Papin and VS Hotel executives.

According to Direk Gabby, the new venue is opportune as it has always been a never-ending challenge for filmmakers like him to find a place to showcase their films.

"Bilang filmmaker, ang unang masakit na naramdaman ko nung nakagawa ako ng pelikula pagkatapos wala akong mapagpalabasan. Umikot yung producer ko nagtanong sa mga venues [commercial cinemas] na ito, ang mamahal," Director Gabby said during the press conference.

(As filmmaker, the first pain I endured was the seeming lack of venue for the film I made. My producer went around asking these venues [commercial cinemas], but they're so expensive)

He further elaborated that the VS micro-cinema is a way of giving back to filmmakers and producers.

"Kung meron lang silang avenue na mapapalabas sila, makakabawi agad sila," he said. 

(If they only have an avenue to release their films, they can recover immediately.)

"Ang sarap ng pakiramdam, ‘di ba, na after mo gumawa ng pelikula, mapapanood mo at mapapanood ng pamilya mo," he added.

(It's a good feeling, isn't it, that after you make a movie, you and your family can watch it)

The rise of micro-cinemas

Located on the 8th floor of the Victoria Sports Tower along EDSA Avenue in Diliman, Quezon City, VS Cinema is the newest addition to micro-cinema venues, which include the likes of Cinema76 and SinePop.

VS Cinema features 55 La-Z-y boy seats and a Dolby Atmos 5.1 digital sound system for an immersive viewing experience.

What makes it even greater is that the venue is near the MRT GMA-Kamuning station. An ample parking space is provided for moviegoers.

Just like any micro-cinema, VS Cinema is also open to private screenings, production events, press previews, among others.
