CIDG taps other sources in probing ex-top cop who aided Alice Guo

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will tap other sources in identifying the former national police chief who allegedly aided dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo after it got no lead during a meeting with a ranking officer of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).

Police Maj. Gen. Leo Francisco, director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), said the investigation to identify the former PNP chief, who was also tagged to be on the take from the Guo, will continue despite the failure to get pieces of evidence from Pagcor senior vice president Raul Villanueva.

“We are not only relying on the statement of general Raul Villanueva. We are also getting information from various sectors. We have open sources, open sources where we could obtain the necessary information,” said Francisco.

Francisco said they are also closely monitoring the ongoing Senate investigation on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) to obtain more information that could lead to the identification of the former PNP chief.

He said there is a need to continue the investigation since their target is not only the former PNP chief but also other personalities who provided assistance in the escape of Guo.

Guo left the country after repeatedly snubbing the Senate summons for her to attend.

She was later arrested in Indonesia and currently, she is detained at the Pasig City Jail.

Francisco met with Villanueva last week based on the order of PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.

During the meeting, Villanueva could not provide pieces of evidence to back his claim that a former PNP chief aided Guo and is also in the monthly payola of the dismissed Bamban mayor.
