The country’s most famous beach destination in Malay town, Aklan province was named Asia’s Leading Luxury Destination at the recent 2024 World Travel Awards (WTA).

“This is a testament that Boracay is still a preferred destination of choice,” said DOT-Western Visayas Director Krisma Rodriguez.

“This award means a lot to the tourism industry and boosts our economy,” said Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista.

Rodriguez and Bautista received the award at the Asia and Oceania awarding ceremony held recently in Manila.

Veranda, an American lifestyle magazine, named Boracay as one of the 15 best sand beaches in the world.

The publication described  Boracay as a “palm-lined beach on a small Philippine island” that “has a season for everyone.”

“From December to May, the nightlife is hopping. For those who prefer a slower and quieter pace, the summer and fall months are for you. No matter when you book your trip, expect exceptional weather,” the magazine said.
