Amit, who recently reigned supreme in the WPA World Women's 9-Ball Championship, managed to put up a good fight but the hometown bet was just too strong as the Chinese went on to win their matchup and eventually claim the crown against compatriot Want Xiaotong for a $36,000 (around P2 million) winner's purse.

Amit, for her part, wouldn’t go home empty-handed as she earned $9,000 (around P500,000) along with Chinese Taipei’s Chou Chieh-Yu.

Before her semis defeat, Amit took down Serbian Bojana Sarac (7-5), Indonesian Silviana Lu (7-2), veteran Austrian Jasmin Ouschan (9-3), and Japan’s Chihiro Kawahara (9-5) in the earlier rounds.

Meanwhile, Chezka Centeno suffered an early exit after losing in the Round of 16 against Chieh-Yu Chou (9-8).

Carlos Biado and Jeffrey de Luna also bowed out of the men’s competition.
