The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has urged first-time job seekers to take advantage of free pre-employment documentary requirements offered by government offices.

The DOLE said the initiative is part of Republic Act 11261 known as the First-Time Jobseekers Assistance Act to alleviate the financial burdens faced by young Filipinos eager to enter the workforce.

Many of the unemployed youth are recent graduates from college or senior high school, ready to embark on their careers.

To benefit from this program, applicants must secure a barangay certification confirming their status as first-time job seekers and their residency for at least six months, the DOLE said.

This certification is essential for obtaining various pre-employment documents, including local barangay clearances, police clearances—both local and national—National Bureau of Investigation clearances, medical certificates from public hospitals, and birth or marriage certificates.

Additional required documents include transcripts of records, graduation certificates, diplomas from accredited institutions, tax identification numbers, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation identification cards, Civil Service certificates of eligibility, Department of Migrant Workers certificates, mayor's clearances, Maritime Industry Authority certificates, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority national certificates.

It is important to note that this assistance does not cover applications for professional licensure exams, passports, or driver’s licenses.

DOLE emphasized that this targeted support is designed to streamline the entry process into the workforce, ultimately empowering the next generation.

As the job market continues to evolve, such initiatives are crucial in helping young workers transition into productive roles and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
