The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is now waiting for the Philippine National Police (PNP) to complete the necessary documents for the transfer of former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo to the Pasig City Jail.

BJMP spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said the bureau had already identified the cell where Guo will be staying, and assured that security will be tight to ensure her and the safety of the other persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

With Guo being a high-profile inmate, Bustinera shrugged off claims that the BJMP will accord her with special treatment, stressing that it is the bureau’s policy to treat every PDL equally as mandated by law.

“It is what it is, kung ano ang sitwasyon yun po talaga, ihahalo na po (Guo with other PDLs), wala pong bakanteng (cell) na paglalagyan siya (whatever the situation, that is really it, she will be the other PDLs, there is no available cell where she can be placed),’’ Bustinera explained.

Bustinera admitted that there is “unting congestion (slight congestion)’’ at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory that is supposed to accommodate only 36 PDLs but currently are occupied by 135 inmates.

Despite its congestion, Bustinera assured that the PDLs inside the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory are “safe and secure’’ with the BJMP conducting a “risk assessment’’ procedure in preparation for Guo’s possible incarceration in the facility.
