Girl group Katseye’s Megan to skip rest of Asia promo tour due to injury

Megan Skiendiel, a member of the rookie girl group Katseye, will not be participating in the rest of the Asia promotional tour due to back injury.

On Sept. 21, it was announced on Katseye’s Weverse account that Megan’s condition has worsened and she will be unable to join the promo tour.

“We regret to inform you that Megan’s ongoing back injury is continuing to limit Megan’s activities involving heavy performance. While Megan has made every effort to continue, her condition has unfortunately worsened, and after consulting with medical professionals she will step back from performances for the remainder of the Asia promotional tour,” according to the announcement.

It added, “Megan will focus on her recovery during this time, with the goal of returning stronger for future stages. We understand this may be disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your understanding and continued support for Megan and Katseye.”

Katseye’s activities in Japan included appearances on “Venue 101” on Sept. 21 and “CDTV” on Sept. 23.

Last August, Megan did not join Katseye during their appearance on “Good Morning America” due to health issue.

“Megan, her doctor, and HYBE x Geffen agreed that it would be best for her to focus on a complete and speedy recovery until she fully recuperates,” according to a notice on Weverse on Aug. 5.

Last Sept. 17, it was announced that “Megan suffered a minor injury by straining her back” while she was taking part in Katseye’s schedule in South Korea.

Besides Megan, Daniela was previously injured. Last June 15, an announcement on Weverse stated that “due to a recent injury, Daniela is unable to fully participate in the promotion of Katseye’s first single, scheduled to be released on June 28 at 12AM ET.”

“Per her doctor’s guidance, Daniela is to rest and attend physical therapy regularly for the next 4-6 weeks. Therefore, to ensure a complete and speedy recovery, Daniela, her doctor, and HYBE x Geffen agreed that it would be best for her to play a limited role in upcoming promotional content and activities while she recuperates,” it added.

The other members of Katseye are Sophia Laforteza (Philippines), Lara Rajagopalan (US), Daniela Avanzini (US), Manon Bannerman (Switzerland), and Jeong Yoonchae (South Korea).

Katseye released their debut album “SIS (Soft Is Strong)” on Aug. 16. They recently visited Manila.

The members of Katseye were chosen through the show "Dream Academy" organized by Korean entertainment company HYBE and Geffen Records.
