Several families in Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila, started to evacuate on Monday morning, September 2, due to heavy rainfall and strong winds brought by southwest monsoon or "habagat'' and Tropical Storm Enteng.

Heavy rains flooded some parts of Baseco with knee-deep water.

Residents said the sea water has almost overflowed and may overflow this morning if the heavy rains will continue.

They said the waves in Manila Bay are getting bigger due to strong winds, prompting them to evacuate.

According to the barangay authorities, around 20 to 30 residents have evacuated to the barangay's basketball court. Most of the evacuees were from Block 1 and 2.

Barangay leaders are also convincing other residents, especially those living by the bay, to temporarily seek shelter at the evacuation site as some houses near the sea are already being reached by big waves.

They continue to monitor the rising flood in the area, including the residential area near the Pasig River.
