WALANG PASOK: Palace suspends classes, gov't work in NCR, Calabarzon on Sept. 3

Malacañang has suspended classes at all levels and government work in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Calabrzon on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, due to the ongoing rains caused by Tropical Storm Enteng, the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) announced on Monday evening.

The suspension covers classes at all levels in both public and private schools as well as government work in Metro Manila and Calabarzon.

This, however, does not cover government offices involved in frontline services. The suspension of work in private companies is left to the discretion of their respective companies.

On Monday morning, President Marcos said he had ordered government agencies to announce class and government work suspensions early to allow the people to make the necessary adjustments.

"We will try to give the bulletin as early as possible for work and school tomorrow," he said.

"Ang instruction ko sa kanila, kung maaari, bago tayo matulog, alam na natin kung may pasok bukas o hindi para makapag-adjust naman ang mga tao (My instruction to them was, if possible, the people should know whether or not there are classes or work tomorrow so they could make adjustments)," he added.

This is the second day that classes and government work were suspended due to Typhoon Enteng and the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, President Marcos assured the public that the government was prepared for the typhoon's aftermath.

"We're prepared for the aftermath of all of this. As usual, nag-forward placement na tayo ng mga pangangailangan (we have prepared everything we would need)," he said on Monday.

"We will just have to wait for the weather to see what it will do. Hopefully, umiwas sa atin (it would avoid us) but even if it does not, we have all the elements in place to support the people na mahihirapan dahil nga dito sa naging bagyong Enteng (who will have a hard time due to Typhoon Enteng)," he added.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has advised those in affected areas to prepare for strong rains and gusts of winds due to the typhoon.
