More than 800 passengers stranded in Bicol ports due to 'Enteng'
More than 800 passengers are now stranded in various ports in Bicol Region and other parts of Southern Tagalog areas due to adverse effects of tropical storm “Enteng”, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) reported on Monday, Sept.2
In a statement, the PPA said 801 passengers are now staying in several ports in Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Albay and Masbate while the rest of the 22 are in the ports in Marinduque and Quezon.
Several shipping companies started suspending sea travel on Sunday, Sept. 1, due to the rough sea conditions and based on the advice of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
PPA personnel were already instructed to attend to the basic needs of the stranded passengers, including the distribution of free food if necessary.
The PPA also advised all passengers to coordinate first with their respective shipping lines before going to the ports in order to prevent any form of inconvenience.
