'Enteng' displaces 1,379 families in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – At least 1,379 families or 4,155 persons in the Bicol region were affected by tropical storm "Enteng," the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD)-Bicol said on Monday afternoon, September 2.

Gremil Naz, information officer of OCD-Bicol, said 841 families or 3,455 persons evacuated to safer areas due to severe flooding.

"Eight-hundred thirty-eight families or 3,452 persons are inside evacuation centers while three families or three persons are outside evacuation centers," Naz said.

Naz said that at least 48 flooding incidents were reported by different local disaster risk reduction and management offices (LDRMMOs) in the region.

Flooded areas were Naga City in Camarines Sur, towns of Camalig, Daraga, and Libon in the province of Albay, and some areas in Sorsogon.

Naz said they have yet to receive any report of fatalities or injuries.

He added that P410,950 worth of family food packs have been provided by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Bicol to affected families in Polangui, Albay and P4,371 packed hot meals were given by the local government unit of Tabaco for stranded passengers bound to Catanduanes province.

"To date, overall humanitarian assistance amounts to P415,321," Naz said.
