Among the sea of aspirants who want to become "Caloy" someday, the two-time gold medalist sees a big potential in his younger brother Eldrew Yulo.
Supporters were hoping to see the Yulo siblings sharing the mat in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games, but the 16-year-old Eldrew won't be able to compete due to his age.
Major tournaments require male gymnasts to be 18 years old while female participants should be 16.
Despite this, Carlos wants his brother to further develop his skills and carry on with his own pursuits in international competitions.
“Tips parin po kahit di pa siya makakalaro, tuloy-tuloy lang po, alam ko pong may pangarap din po sya sa buhay,” said Carlos during an hosted by ArenaPlus last weekend.
“At malaki din po ang potential ng kapatid ko po na manalo din po, nakasuporta po ako sa kanila,” he added.
The pride of Leveriza said Eldrew should trust the process in order to reach his full potential.
“Madidiscover niya ang mga bagay-bagay sa training kasi po napakahirap mag-prepare and ‘yong proseso talagang it takes time gaya po ng pinagdaanan ko,” he said.
