Surigao del Sur's No. 1 most wanted nabbed

BUTUAN CITY – Police have arrested the No. 1 most wanted person in Surigao del Sur.

“The relentless pursuit of field units of Police Regional Office-13 against wanted individuals led to the apprehension of the alleged No. 1 most wanted person in the province of Surigao del Sur,” PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro said.

The suspect Jun was arrested at 10 a.m. in Barangay Panikian, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur on Friday, August 29, Nazarro said, by the Tago Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Carrascal MPS on a warrant of arrest for rape by sexual assault under Republic Act No. 8353 or the anti-rape law.

The arrest warrant dated August 20, 2024 was issued by the Regional Trial Court, 11th Judicial Region, Branch 15, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

Police said that the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted a minor last April 11.

"The long arm of the law will always trace and apprehend those who committed such heinous crime,” Nazarro said. “I laud the combined efforts of our police operatives for the arrest of this fugitive," he added.
