BACOLOD CITY – Twelve local government units in Negros Occidental suspended classes on Monday, September 2, due to tropical storm "Enteng."
These are the towns of E.B. Magalona, Don Salvador Benedicto, Pulupandan, Hinoba-an, Isabela, Murcia, and Valladolid, and the cities of San Carlos, Victorias, Talisay, Silay, and Bacolod.
In E.B. Magalona, Mayor Marvin Malacon ordered the suspension of face-to-face (F2F) classes and shift to modular modality of learning on all levels in public and private schools.
In San Carlos City, classes in elementary and secondary in public and private learning institutions were suspended while classes in pre-school to Senior High School were cancelled in Talisay City.
In Bacolod, classes from elementary to senior high school in private and public schools were suspended.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) is on blue alert, prompting the activation of the Emergency Operations Center and Disaster Online Reporting and Monitoring System.
A sea trip from Bacolod to Manila was temporarily suspended as of 8 a.m. on Monday due to storm warning signal in its destination, Commander Jansen Benjamin, head of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-northern Negros Occidental, said.
The 2Go MV Masigla has 389 passengers with five rolling cargoes, four motorcycles, and 145 containers.
Benjamin said the vessel will be allowed to go once the storm signal is lifted in its destination.
He said that sea travel in this city is normal.
The public was advised to brace for possible flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas in Negros Occidental.
Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to storm surges, floods, and landslides were advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from authorities.
