Valenzuela LGU opens new pumping station to address flooding in the city

The Valenzuela City government opened its 25th pumping station on Thursday, September 19, to address flooding problem in the city.

According to the city government, the new P400-million pumping station will manage water flow from several barangays and neighboring areas such as Meycauayan and North Caloocan.

The facility features four submersible pumps with a combined capacity of 8 cubic meters per second (㎥/s), four 500kVA generator sets, and two floodgates to efficiently manage and remove excess water.

The local government added that the facility is expected to significantly reduce flooding in areas including Luis Francisco Subdivision, Veinte Reales, Rubber Master Road, Lingunan, and other flood-prone parts of the city.


Gatchalian emphasized that the pumping station is just one component of the city's broader flood control efforts.

He also reassured residents that work is ongoing to improve other vulnerable areas in the city.

“Sa sitwasyon natin ngayon sa climate change, sa global warming na nangyayari sa buong mundo ay hindi natin maiiwasan pa rin ang pagtaas ng tubig…. Kaya po hinihingi namin ang inyong konting pang-unawa, ang importante sa amin ni Kap. Jojo ay ang main road po ay magawa na… at uunti-untiin po natin tapusin ang mga looban na kalye. Hindi lang po [ito] sa Veinte Reales, [kundi] sa buong Valenzuela.” (With the climate climate change, the ongoing global warming, flooding in some areas is inevitable….That is why we need your understanding that Kap. Jojo and I are prioritizing the fixing of main roads… and we are gradually fixing inner streets. This project will be all over Valenzuela City, not just in Veinte Reales),” he said.

The local government also urged residents to avoid throwing garbage into streams and to stay prepared for potential disasters.
