DepEd and the Rebisco Food Group signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) early this week for the REBISCOVER Learning Program.

The MOA signing was attended by DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, Rebisco Biscuit Corporation President Geronimo R. Kamus, Suncrest Foods Incorporated President Jonathan C. Ng, SFI Multimix Corporation President Jonathan C. Ng, and SPI Corporation President David T. Yuyucheng.

In a statement, DepEd said the partnership aims to “bolster the development of curriculum-aligned learning materials, construct school buildings and canteens, and support key DepEd initiatives,” such as Brigada Eskwela, the School-Based Feeding Program, and the celebration of National Teachers’ Day.

In his remarks, Angara expressed gratitude to the Rebisco Food Group for their continued support of the department’s mission. He also expressed hope that more private partners would follow suit in reinforcing basic education programs.

Angara emphasized Rebisco’s “unwavering commitment” to DepEd and the future of Filipino youth.

“Your longstanding dedication to education highlights the strength of our partnership,” Angara said. “Your support enables us to address the many challenges we face in delivering quality education to our learners and providing assistance to our teachers,” he added.

Kamus, on the other hand, expressed confidence in Angara’s “visionary” leadership. “We are excited about the future, not just for our children but for the country as a whole,” he added.

REBISCOVER Learning Program

The REBISCOVER Learning Program consists of five key components, which include “RebisCOMPLEMENT” focusing on the development of learning materials in both printed and digital formats; and “RebisCONSTRUCT/RebisCONVERT” for the construction or restoration of classrooms and service facilities.

The program also includes the “RebisCOMMUNITY” which will highlight outreach programs, including feeding initiatives, medical missions, and gift-giving activities; and “RebisCOMMEND/RebisCOMMENDATION” aimed at recognizing and appreciating educators during National Teachers’ Day.
One of the most anticipated components of the program is “RebisCONGRESS,” which aims to support sports development through training sessions for volleyball coaches and players.

Angara, an advocate for youth development through sports, underscored the significance of RebisCONGRESS, emphasizing the importance of training programs and volleyball clinics for schools’ volleyball coaches and athletes.

“Ganyan po ang Pinoy, pagdating sa edukasyon, pagdating sa sports, bayanihan, tulong-tulong (That's how Filipinos are—when it comes to education, sports, bayanihan [community spirit], and helping one another),” Angara said.

Angara also led the ceremonial volleyball toss, alongside Creamline Cool Smashers members Michelle Gumabao, Tots Carlos, and Kyle Negrito, after the MOA signing.

Through the program, Creamline will provide volleyball kits, tutorial videos, and learning camps to schools nationwide.

“We thank Rebisco for supporting the restoration of service facilities such as sports clinics and canteens so we will have the next Michelle, Tots, and Kylie. Mga bata pa lang, mahahasa na ang kanilang galing (Even at a young age, their talents will be honed),” Angara said.
