2 dead in 3-vehicle collision in Ilocos Sur

SINAIT, Ilocos Sur – Two persons died in a three-vehicle collision in Barangay Jordan here on Wednesday evening, September 18.

Police identified the fatalities as Leobert I. Noriel, 24, of Barangay Cabulalaan, Sinait, driver of a black Sym Bonus motorcycle, and Edmund A. Villapaz, 31, credit collector, from Barangay Bayubay Sur, San Vicente, Ilocos Sur, driver of a Yamaha Sniper motorcycle.

Investigation said the northbound Noriel overtook a Nissan Urvan vehicle driven by Jerome P. Sanchez, 37, of Antipolo City, Rizal and accidentally collided with the southbound motorcycle driven by Villapaz.

Due to the impact of the collision, Villapaz was thrown and accidentally bumped by the Nissan Urvan.

Both motorcycle drivers were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.

Sanchez is under police custody and a follow-up investigation is ongoing.
