RTWPB tackles wage hike in Eastern Visayas


TACLOBAN CITY -- The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-8  has initiated public consultations on the possibility of wage increases in Eastern Visayas.

During the Kapihan sa Philippine Information Agency, Cecilio Baleña, mediator-arbiter of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office-8, said they expect to issue the new wage order before the year ends.

However, Baleña has yet to disclose the possible amount of wage increase for minimum wage earners in the region.

The official added that they have finished their public consultations in Catbalogan and Ormoc City.

They will  consult Tacloban and Maasin City, including Catarman town,  in Northern Samar next.

The RTWPB last issued a wage order in November 2023 to bring the daily minimum wage in the region to P405.
