President Marcos issued Memorandum Circular No. 64, suspending work in the Executive Branch on Sept. 23, which falls on a Monday, starting at 3 p.m.

"The suspension of work in other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and private sector is also encouraged, so as to afford all Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the 32nd National Family Week," the memorandum read.

However, agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness, response to disasters and calamities, and the performance of other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.

The Palace also encouraged all government workers in the Executive branch to fully support the programs and activities relative to the observance of Family Week, as organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family.

The declaration of work suspension, the President said, was pursuant to Proclamation No. 60 (s. 1992) which declared the last week of September of every year as Family Week and Proclamation No. 326 (s. 2012) which declared the fourth Monday of September of every year as "Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga" Day.

The memorandum was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Sept. 12.
