TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Fully grown marijuana plants valued at P12.2 million were destroyed in a four-day eradication operation in Tinglayan, Kalinga from September 14 to 17.
Police said that operating troops uprooted 51,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P10.2 million in four plantations with a total land area of 3,400-square meters in Barangays Tulgao East, Dananao, and Butbut Proper from September 14 to 15.
On September 15 to 17, 9,100 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P1,820,000 in two plantation sites with a total land area of 790-square meters in Barangays Loccong and Dananao were also uprooted.
Uprooted marijuana was burned on site. No cultivator was apprehended.
Police Col. Gilbert A. Fati-ig, Kalinga police director, lauded the efforts of operating units.
“The Lumin-awa cops and other government authorities will continue to visit and monitor previous plantation sites to preempt further cultivation.”
